MAKING THE 'THE BEARDED WOMAN BACKPACK'

CUTTING LEATHER

SHEEP SKIN AND FACIAL FEATURES POSITIONING

I SLICED INTO THE MUSTACHE TO GET A FULLER EFFECT BEFORE SEWING ONTO THE BAG FACE.

MAKING THE BAG STRAPS

STITCHING DETAIL ON THE SIDE OF BAG; FORGOT TO PUT SEAM ALLOWANCE ON THE TWO PIECES THEREFORE HAD TO ATTATCH THEM TOGETHER USING THIS TECHNIQUE.

FINISHED ZIP AND BAG STRAPS GLUED INTO BASE OF BAG READY TO BE SEWN IN.

I will finish the bag tomorrow, I just need to sew some parts together using the same stitch as below.

I am making a tongue to put on the face of 'THE BEARDED WOMAN BACKPACK' using rhinestones on leather.

This is the face of the backpack.

THE BEARDED WOMAN!

EXPERIMENTING WITH TECHNIQUES AND SAMPLING

Below are some images of different ways to attach the sheep skin to the leather bag in the best way. This is a good way to attach the skin neatly.

A different technique below which would give more volume to the hair; I think I will use this technique for the mustache.

Below I was positioning the facial features and seeing if I wanted to include a tongue.

'THE BEARDED WOMAN BACKPACK' SHAPE AND MEASUREMENTS

KATYLN BAG

Above is the description and measurements of the 'KATLYN' bag. The 'KATLYN' bag is the shape i want for my final bag. From this information I then worked out the measurements for my bag and made a paper pattern.

INSPIRATION

BAGS/FACES/SHAPE/MASKS

GENERAL INSPIRATION FOR IDEAS

'DOLLY RYAN' BY RYAN LO.
This could be a great shape and idea for a bag.

'FENDI MONSTERS'
I don't particularly like these bags but it is hairy and has a face which I love.

COLOUR/PATCHWORK/FACE INSPIRATION.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER LEATHER JACKET PATCHWORK SKIRT.

WALTER VAN BEIRENDONCK

I love WALTER VAN BEIRENDONCK and all of his collections. I find his work inspired me with most designs I create and ideas I have.

JEREMY SCOTT

I have blogged these images mainly for the use of hair in this collection.

I love it when a bag looks like something like an animal for example rather than just a container. I like the fact a bag can have an identity rather than just being used to carry things.
